6 Months - Boone

Boone really is the happiest baby and for that we're so grateful! He is already halfway through his first YEAR! How on earth did this happen?!?!

He is a little chunk and loves to eat! He sits up completely on his own now and he is pretty proud of that. He's also able to keep himself entertained a bit longer since he's sitting up. When we get home in the evenings, he usually plays in his jumper or on the carpet with toys while mommy and daddy sterilize bottles, wash dishes, and make dinner.

While our boy is certainly a happy one, he absolutely knows what he wants and when he wants it and he's not afraid to let you know it! I have to remind myself that being headstrong can be a good thing!

We continue to try to broaden our horizons by getting ourselves out more often. Being first time parents, we really became hermit crabs after August 4. Granted, Boone was pretty fussy as a newborn, which made going out in public a little more difficult, but as time has gone on he's outgrown that stage and does really well in a variety of settings.

We go to church weekly, bravely go to restaurants dangerously close to bedtime, and more, and we're all still alive! That's kind of a big deal for us!

5 Months - Boone

Just look at this little chunk! He is constantly smiling. We're finally slipping into some routines that have helped us all function a little better and things are getting fun.

We've started venturing out a lot more as a family than we have been for the past 5 months. We've conquered our first cold! He's even starting to sit up on his own. Christmas has come and gone and now we're even in a New Year.

Boone still has the most beautiful blue eyes. At this point, he has many of us convinced that they're staying blue, but I guess we shall see! His hair still looks blonde sometimes with a red or brown tint to it, and there's still very little of it!

What a gift this boy has been!!!

4 Months - Boone

What a ham! Is it just me, or is this book getting smaller each month?

This little guy spends many more hours of his days smiling away. He's such a happy kid in the mornings, and Brandon and I are still confused as to how we ended up with a morning person for a child. We'll take it though! It's a great way to start each day!

We're really looking forward to celebrating Christmas with Boone this year. It's going to be such fun to experience Christmas with a baby!

He's doing really well in daycare and seems to bring a lot of joy to his teachers. We're grateful for them! He likes cuddling with them in the mornings, and playing with them in the afternoons.

3 Months - Boone

Look at this cutie! He seriously just lights up our lives and is becoming more and more fun each day! It isn't so hard to coax a smile out of him these days. We see smiles more and more often!

Our little guy still has very little, very light-colored hair. Depending on the way the light hits it, it can look red or blond, and some days it's even starting to look darker.

His eyes are blue and we're convinced at this point that they're staying blue. They're not that "looks like they're still changing grayish blue;" they're blue. And beautiful, too!

Happy 3 months, Boone! Keep smiling every day!

Our boy is growing so quick! People aren't kidding when they say time flies by!

His little personality is starting to develop and show through. We work hard for his smiles, but when we catch a glimpse of them, they're so worth it!

We love you, Boone! We can't wait to get to know you better!

Boone's Baptism

This past Sunday was a pretty special day for our family! Boone and I were both baptized at Faith Lutheran Church, the same church that Brandon and I were married in.

Our church has a long history in the Westerholm family, and has also been the place of many milestones in the Roessing family, as well.

Pastor Donald Ofsdahl officiated the baptism. Our church is currently in transition waiting in search of a new pastor to call, and Pastor Ofsdahl is one of the pastors that joins our congregation occasionally throughout this time.

Josh & Carlie Tucker and Nic & Malorie Scaramozi are Boone's sponsors and Mark & Sharon are my sponsors for baptism.

Following the church service, we went to my family's house on Lake McQueeney to celebrate with everyone.

Our family helped us prepare food for everyone - sandwiches and snacks.

Adalyn, Boone's first cousin, born 20 days after him on August 24.

Boone's Newborn Pictures

Brandon and I worked with Chelsea Lietz Photography for Boone's newborn pictures. She is the same photographer who took our maternity pictures and she is insanely talented!

We absolutely love Boone's newborn portraits and they captured his tiny little self so perfectly. When we took these pictures Boone was just 13 days new.

We hope that you enjoy...

And one of my favorites...look at that smirk!!!

Let me know if you'd like to order any pictures. I have them without the watermarks. :)

1 Month Old - Boone

You should have seen the circus that occurred while Brandon and I tried to get a picture of Boone for his one month birthday! My goodness it was exhausting!

We finally settled with the most telling of them all...

Weight:
7 lbs (8/11/15)
7 lbs 5 oz (8/18/15) - 20th percentile

Length:
19.5 inches - 8th percentile

Likes/Dislikes:
- I like being outside.
- I like being in the wrap on my mommy.

Milestones and Memories:
- I snort when I cry.
- I had my first chiropractic adjustment at 3 days old to help with my latch when nursing.
- I took my first bottle at 2 1/2 weeks old so my mommy could go to Meet the Teacher.
- For about 2 weeks, I was fussy in the evenings around 6:30-8:30 about 4 days out of the week.
(We've discussed colic, but we're unsure. Some say yes, some say no.)

Sleep Habits:
Sleeps for 2-3 hours at a time and wakes up for night feedings.

It has been so much fun, and definitely exhausting, to get to know our boy. We're your typical first time parents: we take his temperature multiple times a day and question every.single.thing.we.do. We often find ourselves telling Boone, "We have no idea what we're doing!"

I knew I was experienced with babies before I had Boone, but when it's your own, it's entirely different. I worry about things that I never worried about holding anyone else's children. Like we said, "They're letting us leave the hospital with him? No test? No nurse? No anything? We've got to keep him alive?" It's a little scary venturing out on your own, but we've done it!

Happy 1 month, Boone!
